The Indirect Strategic Buyer is responsible for the acquisition and administration, at optimum balance of cost, quality and supplier service, of all materials and services necessary for the division’s indirect purchases and operating standards. The position reports directly to the Strategic Sourcing Manager.
To execute and deliver upon the strategy defined by the commodity manager. To continuously look for process improvements within the business, and cost reduction opportunities year on year.
Negotiate long-term agreements with suppliers up to contract signature.
Negotiate logistic conditions with suppliers in accordance with contract requirements and BU objectives.
Launch and monitor cost reduction campaigns with all the suppliers in the commodity portfolio.
Review alternate sources (benchmark), ensuring continuity of supply, consistency of quality, lead times in line with market expectations and competitive pricing.
Develop annual objectives in line with departmental and division goals.
Interprets contract provisions and reviews contracts for accuracy and changes prior to bid and renewal.
Maintain records of services or materials 'out for bid' and award new contracts to suppliers.
Prepare and execute competitive tenders for goods, services and works in line with the organisation processes and policies to the award of robust contracts.
Manage and co-ordinate key projects to proactively drive cost reduction through effective negotiation and supplier selection.
Provide professional advice to the organisation where needed for all areas of Indirect spend for goods and services to mitigate risk.
Evaluate suppliers through performance measures available in the ERP system.
Prepare and execute business reviews in line with the corporate standard and business objectives.
Access relevant information from Royal IV (ERP system) in order to produce required reports for supplier invoicing and spending, quality services delivery.
Develop, review, and approve new or improved purchasing processes to maintain efficiency of operation in the commodity scope.
Conduct risk assessments with the assistance of a cross functional team and work to mitigate risks associated with the supplier.
Review all new supplier requests and carry out credit and suitability checks.
Support group initiatives for improvements and provide data as and when requested.
Rationalise Supply base in line with Business Plan to ensure maximum economies of scale across multiple sites.
Ensure contract management routines are in place to manage the supply base against agreed contractual terms and conditions.
Support purchasing managers in any conflicts they may arise with suppliers and protect the interest of Zodiac Aerospace and the supplier per established escalation path.
Motivate, inspire, advise, and provide necessary training for the procurement team in dealing with suppliers within the commodity group.
Maintain excellent communication and relationships with suppliers.
Provide liaison between vendors, contractors, and internal requestors.
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
Challenge and continuously work on improving the internal process to reduce waste.
Identify, assess, and manage risk to the benefit of Zodiac Aerospace.
Knowledge, Skills and other Requirements
Experience: Minimum 5 years procurement/supply chain background in manufacturing environment required. Knowledge of industry suppliers, product(s) and manufacturing capabilities required. Aerospace industry knowledge preferred.
Knowledge of In-direct procurement at least 5 years experience
Education: Business/Technical College degree preferred or the equivalent in training education and experience.
Computer Skills: MS Excel (2007 advance user, 2010), proficient with MS Office programs (Office, PowerPoint & Word)
Knowledge of modern purchasing tools and techniques
Experienced in an In-direct procurement role min 5 years
Demonstrable experience in change management and assessing and managing risk
Experienced negotiator and Minimum of 5 years commercial experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills for extracting the necessary data from development team members. Self-starter, self -reliant and focused. Strong negotiation skills required.
Possess good understanding of contracts and legal aspects of terms and conditions
Evidence of continuing professional development within the last 5 years.
Contract / Legal course(s) attended in the last 5 years.
International and domestic travel may be required. Valid passport is required for international travel.
Protracted or irregular hours may be required.
