The Mechanical Engineering department develops product concepts to meet customer specifications, generates analytical data through simulations or calculations, builds prototypes of new product designs, finalizes drawings for production fabrication, and collaborates with other departments to deliver new LRUs that pass FAA certification requirements in advance of program timeline commitments.
The Mechanical Engineer Intern will assist in conceptualizing and developing products containing mechanical as well as electromechanical components for the manufacture, assembly, and test of RAVE IFE products that are required for our airline customer orders. The Intern will work with an Engineer to assist in the design of new products that meet or exceed all customer requirements for functionality, performance, and reliability while improving the overall passenger experience, visual appearance, and ease of use of our products.
Electrical Engineering - to ensure our products meet customer performance specifications.
Systems Engineering - to ensure our products meet system function and reliability specifications.
Marketing - to ensure we develop products that will meet the current as well as future needs of our customers.
Purchasing - to ensure clear and accurate fabrication drawings so we receive consistently high quality materials / parts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Component and simple assembly design
Mechanical drafting and technical document authoring
Conduct tests, design manufacturing fixtures, support senior colleagues
May include involvement in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of products as required to accomplish company goals
Preferred Qualifications and/or Education:
Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering discipline
Experience with Solidworks preferred
Courses and/or experience related to Solidworks Flow Simulation experience (thermal simulation for electronics)
Courses and/or experience related with molded plastics design
Must be proactive, enthusiastic, innovative, and looking to be challenged
Ability to develop creative solutions and resolve problems
Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities
